Accounts Assistant
We are looking for a motivated, organised, and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking to begin a career in accounting and finance while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a supportive environment. Full training will be provided.
About the Role
- Hours: 20 hours per week (5 days per week)
- Salary: £26,936 per annum (pro rata)
Key Responsibilities
As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the day-to-day operations of the finance department by:
- Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, credit notes, and refunds
- Reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies
- Assisting with bank reconciliations and cash postings
- Maintaining accurate financial records and organised filing systems
- Supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Responding to and resolving supplier and customer queries
- Assisting with month-end and year-end financial procedures
- Entering and updating data within accounting systems
- Answering telephone enquiries and directing calls as appropriate
- Providing general administrative support to the finance team
Skills and Attributes
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Good numeracy skills and confidence using IT systems, particularly Microsoft Excel
- A willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team
- A positive, proactive attitude and strong work ethic
Qualifications and Requirements
- A minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent), including Maths and English
- Previous accounting experience is not required, as full training will be provided
