Westminster Foodservice, a Peterborough based family owned foodservice supplier, has one hybrid part-time / full time vacancy for a versatile, enthusiastic and physically fit person to fulfil a multi-skilled role which includes general warehouse and pallet picking duties, fixed round multi drop deliveries and relief driver duties to provide cover for existing full time drivers.
Warehouse Duties:
The successful applicant will be required to undertake general warehouse duties, to pick and collate frozen, chilled and ambient pallets ready for delivery and to assist the Depot Manager generally in the day to day running of the business. Fork lift licence an advantage. Training provided. Normal warehouse duties will operate for 38-40 weeks per year.
Delivery Driver Duties & Relief Driver Duties :
To make scheduled Monday - Friday daily deliveries when required and for a least 12-14 weeks per year to provide full-time holiday and occasional sickness cover for the current full time drivers. Training provided.
Duties:
- Safely and efficiently operate a delivery van to transport goods to customers
- Plan and follow the most efficient routes for timely deliveries
- Load and unload products from the van, ensuring proper handling and securing of items
- Verify the accuracy of delivery orders and obtain necessary signatures or proof of delivery
- Communicate with customers in a professional and friendly manner
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during deliveries
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the delivery van
- Be prepared to handle cash received from customers and complete a daily cash sheet on return to the depot
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license to include driving licence categories C1 & C1e with a clean or nearly clean driving record
- Hold valid Driver & CPC cards allowing you to drive a vehicle exceeding 3500 kilos GVW
- Proven experience as a commercial driver or delivery driver
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 20 kilos) repeatedly throughout the day
- Excellent communication skills to interact with customers and team members
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and inventory management is a plus
- Ability to navigate using GPS or other routing systems
- Strong time management skills to ensure timely deliveries
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic and be prepared for 6am early starts
Please note that this position requires heavy lifting and frequent interaction with customers. The ability to work independently and follow instructions is essential. When covering driver duties the minimum hours worked will be a minimum of 42.5 per week, when working in the warehouse hours will be a minimum of 30 across five days.
