Security Operator

Role Overview
We are seeking reliable and professional Security Operators to support the safe and secure operation of a regulated site environment.
This is a monitoring and assurance-focused role responsible for maintaining site awareness, controlling authorised access, and reporting security-related activity in accordance with established procedures. The position emphasises observation, reporting, and procedural compliance rather than physical intervention.
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, sound judgement, and the ability to remain focused during routine and low-activity periods.
Working Pattern
- 12-hour shifts (days and nights)
- Structured rotating roster
- No long blocks of consecutive shifts
- Maximum of two consecutive shifts on most rotations
- Regular 2–3 day recovery periods built into the rota
- Average 39–41 hours per week
- Predictable schedule provided in advance
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor site activity through CCTV systems, patrols, and access control measures
- Maintain awareness of site operations and identify unusual or suspicious activity
- Verify and control access in accordance with site procedures and authorised permissions
- Record incidents, observations, and security events accurately and professionally
- Escalate security concerns and incidents through established reporting channels
- Complete shift logs, reports, and handover documentation
- Support evidence preservation and incident management processes when required
- Adhere to all security procedures, policies, and confidentiality requirements
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times
Essential Requirements
- UK national eligible for, or currently holding, Security Check (SC) clearance
- SIA licence or willingness to obtain one
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and remain attentive for extended periods
- Good written reporting and record-keeping ability
- Basic IT skills for security systems and reporting platforms
- Comfortable working permanent day or permanent night shifts
- Reliable, disciplined, and able to follow established procedures
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience within security, defence, aviation, critical infrastructure, manufacturing, or other regulated environments
- First Aid qualification
- Experience working within structured operational or control-room environments
