Enabler / Support Worker – Cullompton, Devon
We are recruiting Enablers / Support Workers to support a 13-year-old boy with additional needs in his busy family home in Cullompton, Devon.
The client is the youngest of five siblings. He loves gaming (especially ROBLOX), spending time with his therapy dog, and getting out and about in the community. He uses powerchairs for mobility and needs support with everyday tasks, but he’s keen for someone who feels more like an older buddy than a parent. The family home is lively, with siblings coming and going, two dogs, and several cats.
This is a rewarding opportunity to help a young person build independence, enjoy his interests, and take part fully in family and community life.
We are seeking Support Workers who will:
- Support the client during sessions with his tutor and therapists.
- Help prepare food and support him with eating.
- Join in with games, especially online gaming, and encourage his interests.
- Support the training and care of his therapy dog.
- Accompany him on community activities and outings, using his powerchairs.
- Work flexibly alongside his family and therapy team.
Essential:
- Enthusiasm, patience, and reliability.
- Willingness to learn and undertake training.
- Comfortable in a lively family home with pets.
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Desirable:
- Shared interests in gaming and technology.
- Previous experience supporting children or young people.
- Driving licence.
- The client would particularly welcome someone who can build an older-sibling style relationship with him, including shared interests such as gaming, technology and community activities.
Hours & Pay:
- 8 hours per week, approximately 10:00 – 18:00 one weekday (likely Wednesday).
- Plus 6 flexible hours over the weekend, worked by agreement to suit activities and family plans.
- Rates: £16/hr weekdays, £17/hr weekends.
This position requires a fully enhanced DBS (funded by the employer) and registration with the DBS Update Service.
You will be employed directly by the client; StanleySmith Case Management oversees all aspects of the client’s care package on their behalf.
