A OFSTED Outstanding welcoming primary SEND setting in Fazakerley, North Liverpool is seeking a dedicated and adaptable SEMH Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their experienced and supportive team.
This specialist provision supports pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, with a strong focus on meeting a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role involves covering a range of subjects and year groups, so flexibility and a proactive mindset are essential. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, including leading short, engaging 20-minute sessions, while maintaining a calm and purposeful learning atmosphere. Classes are small (around 10 pupils), with additional Teaching Assistant support in place. The school offers excellent opportunities for professional development, with ongoing support from senior leaders and specialist colleagues.
You will play a key role in building strong, trusting relationships with pupils and responding flexibly to the needs of the school day, helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive environment.Pay: £120 per day, depending on experience
The ideal HLTA Teaching Assistant should:
- Hold a recognised HLTA qualification or degree-level qualification
- Have experience working with, or a strong passion for supporting, children with SEND and SEMH needs
- Be confident delivering pre-planned lessons across the curriculum, including short sessions
- Provide one-to-one and small group support where required
- Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and a consistent approach
- Support pupil engagement, progress and emotional regulation
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to meet individual needs
- Be flexible, proactive and patient
- Be nurturing, empathetic and resilient in approach
- Be able to communicate effectively within a team
