Lead Social Worker

£55,000 - £57,000 per annum
We are seeking an experienced Lead Social Worker to join a specialist forensic and mental health service. This role is ideal for a qualified social worker with strong leadership experience in forensic, criminal justice, or mental health environments.
You will lead a dedicated social work team, oversee complex case management, and ensure high standards of care, safeguarding, and statutory compliance.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and support a team of social workers
- Manage a caseload involving individuals with mental health and forensic backgrounds
- Complete risk assessments, statutory reports, and care planning documentation
- Represent the service at tribunals, safeguarding meetings, and multi-agency reviews
- Work collaboratively with families, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
- Ensure compliance with current legislation, safeguarding standards, and quality requirements
- Support staff development, training, and professional practice standards
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within forensic, criminal justice, or mental health services
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of:
- Mental Health Act
- Mental Capacity Act
- Care Act
- MAPPA processes
- Excellent communication, organisational, and report-writing skills
