New Road Education is working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Weybridge, Surrey to recruit various 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistants.
These roles involve supporting different pupils with varying SEN needs on a 1:1 basis. The school has a strong SEN structure and experience supporting pupils with a range of needs commonly found in mainstream primary settings.
This is a full‑timerole initially for the Summer term, with a strong possibility of extension through to the following academic year, if desired and a good fit overall.
The Role
- 1:1 support for pupils with SEN
- Supporting learning, engagement, and emotional regulation
- Implementing strategies from EHCPs and support plans
- Working closely with teachers and SEN staff
- Creating a calm, safe, and consistent learning environment
SEN Needs May Include:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASC)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Speech, Language & Communication Needs (SLCN)
- Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
- Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD), including Dyslexia and Dyscalculia
- Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including anxiety and emotional regulation difficulties
- Attachment difficulties or developmental trauma
- Sensory processing needs
- Physical or medical needs requiring additional support
You do not need experience with all of the above. Experience or interest in any SEN area is welcome.
This role is ideal for candidates who:
- Enjoy working 1:1 with children
- Are patient, empathetic, and resilient
- Have SEN experience (formal or informal), including:
- Supporting family or friends
- Care, youth work, or nursery roles
- SEN or mainstream school experience
- Psychology, education, or childhood studies backgrounds
