Overview
We are seeking a skilled Pedestrian Crane Operator to join our construction and materials handling team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience operating various heavy machinery in a busy industrial environment. This role involves safely manoeuvring pedestrian cranes to facilitate the movement of materials and equipment on-site, ensuring efficient project progression. Applicants should be organised, safety-conscious, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
Duties
- Operate pedestrian cranes with precision to lift, move, and position materials across construction sites or warehouses
- Conduct routine safety checks and inspections on crane equipment before use
- Assist with the loading and unloading of materials using appropriate machinery such as forklifts or excavators
- Coordinate with site managers and other operatives to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks
- Maintain accurate records of material movements and crane operation logs
- Follow all health and safety regulations to prevent accidents or injuries during operations
- Support shipping & receiving activities by managing incoming and outgoing deliveries efficiently
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating pedestrian cranes in construction, warehouse, or shipping environments
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to crane operation, forklifts, excavators, and other heavy machinery
- Valid commercial driving licence with experience in driving lorries or similar vehicles preferred
- Hands-on experience with materials handling, shipping & receiving, and warehouse procedures
- Familiarity with construction site safety protocols and equipment maintenance standards
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
Pay: £22.00 per hour
