Quantity Surveyor – Southern Home Counties
Bell is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support retrofit projects across the Southern Home Counties.
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing the commercial and financial performance of projects from tender stage through to final account, ensuring costs are controlled, value is maximised and cash collection targets are achieved.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing cost estimates, tenders and contract documentation.
- Managing project costs, budgets and procurement activities.
- Preparing valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Producing monthly CVRs and commercial reports.
- Managing subcontractor procurement, payments and performance.
- Supporting cash collection, invoicing and payment applications.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and internal teams.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management.
- Experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction, housing, retrofit or property projects.
- Strong knowledge of cost management, budgeting and procurement.
- Experience administering contracts and preparing tender documentation.
- Understanding of JCT and NEC contracts.
- Ability to manage valuations, variations and final accounts.
- Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant QS software.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Chartered status or working towards RICS membership.
- Experience in social housing, planned maintenance or retrofit projects.
- Knowledge of PAS 2035 and energy efficiency programmes.
- Experience with public sector or grant-funded projects.
- Understanding of sustainability and net-zero construction practices.

Pay: £60,000.00-£65,000.00 per year

Experience:
- quantity surveying: 3 years (required)
- PAS 2035 and energy efficiency: 1 year (preferred)
- JCT and NEC contracts: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- degree or equiv. in Quantity Surveying or Comm. Management (required)
- Full UK Driving Licence (required)
- Chartered status/RICS or working towards (required)
