Fabric Engineer
Location: Oxford (OX1)
Shift Pattern: 7:00am – 7:00pm | 3 On, 2 Off, 2 On Rotation
Interview Dates: Week Commencing 6th July
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Fabric Engineer to join the engineering team at a shopping centre in Oxford, one of the region's premier retail and leisure destinations.
Working as part of a team of up to 12 engineers, this role requires a highly versatile and multi-skilled individual who is comfortable carrying out a broad range of building fabric and general maintenance duties across a busy commercial environment.
The shift pattern is slightly different from the traditional continental rotation but has proven to work well for both the client and engineering team, offering a healthy work-life balance.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned and reactive building fabric maintenance.
- Undertake general building services tasks as required.
- Complete basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
- Perform minor carpentry, painting, decorating and general handyman duties.
- Support the wider engineering team with day-to-day site operations.
- Carry out basic electrical maintenance where appropriate and within competency.
- Ensure all works are completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience in a Fabric Engineer or Building Maintenance role.
- Hold a recognised electrical qualification, including either the 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Comfortable working across multiple trades and disciplines.
- Basic plumbing experience is essential.
- Strong all-round building services knowledge.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Customer-focused with a proactive approach to maintenance.
