SAS Utilities are a leading multi-disciplined contractor within the Utilities sector. We are seeking a reliable and organised Finance Manager to join our team in a busy office environment to deliver senior-level financial leadership, ensuring SAS Utilities financial stability, compliance, and long‑term sustainability.
You will oversee all aspects of:
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports aligned with UKGAAP and corporate standards.
- Invoicing across numerous contracts
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring timely submission of reports.
- Payroll, debtors, and purchasing
- Preparing VAT returns, bank reconciliations, and management reports.
- Audit preparation
- Internal controls and system improvements
- Managing external service contracts
- Handling customer queries.
Essential experience and qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA/AAT Level 4 qualification)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role
- Demonstrable experience leading a finance function
- Strong understanding of finance strategy, budgeting, and compliance
- Experience implementing finance‑related policies
- Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex information clearly
- Confident, calm under pressure, and able to meet deadlines
- Experience with accountancy systems such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.
- Strong IT literacy, including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and control your own workload as well as that of the team.
- Lead day‑to‑day financial accounting activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery.
- Lead statutory, internal and SOX audit requirements, ensuring strong controls and full compliance.
- Oversee VAT returns and support wider tax obligations.
- Ensure adherence to HMRC, ONS and regulatory reporting.
Salary: £42,000.00 - £55,000.00 per annum.
Role full time in person based at Craven Arms, SY7 8BW - 08:00-17:00 Monday - Friday
