Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Pre-School Room Leader Nursery Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for working with young children and will play a vital role in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for their growth and development.
As a Room Leader you will work with the Nursery Manager and Proprietor to ensure a high standard of physical, emotional, social and intellectual education and care for children placed in the Nursery.
You will be responsible for the care and education of children aged from birth to five years, ensuring their needs are met while promoting their learning through play.
Responsibilities
- To promote the aims and objectives of the nursery.
- Have day-to-day responsibility for managing and supervising your designated room within the nursery.
- To act as a keyworker for a group of children and organise the keyworker system within the team.
- To effectively supervise staff on a daily basis, monitoring their performance to ensure good practice at all times.
- Having key holder responsibility for opening and closing up the nursery.
- Ensure the necessary steps are taken to safeguard and promote the welfare of children
- Manage children’s behaviour appropriately and effectively and in a manner appropriate for their stage of development and individual needs.
- Participate in positively promoting a team approach within the nursery, supporting children, colleagues and other professionals through a positive influence, based on a shared perception of the vision for the service to children and the wider community
- To liaise closely with management and other professionals as necessary and ensure that all legal and statutory requirements are implemented, to provide reports as required.
- Provide high-quality care and education to children in the nursery setting.
- Plan and implement engaging activities that promote physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development.
- Observe and assess children's progress, maintaining accurate records of their development.
- Create a safe and welcoming environment that encourages exploration and learning.
- Work collaboratively with parents and caregivers to support children's individual needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery space.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring the wellbeing of all children in your care.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of nursery practices.
Requirements
- A relevant childcare qualification, minimum Level 3 in Childcare or Early Years.
- Previous experience working with young children is highly desirable.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
- A genuine love for children and commitment to their welfare.
- Knowledge of child development theories and practices is an advantage.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing situations within the nursery environment.
- A current First Aid qualification is beneficial but not essential at the time of application.
