Location: Marshfield Farm Ice Cream, near Marshfield (rural site – no public transport)
We are looking for a reliable and practical Industrial Cleaner to join our team at Marshfield Farm.
This is an important role within our factory, helping us keep our production areas, equipment spaces and shared facilities clean, safe and well maintained after the main production day has finished.
This is not a light cleaning role. We are looking for someone with previous experience in industrial, factory, production or commercial cleaning, who is comfortable working in a physically active role and using industrial cleaning equipment.
Experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG or production hygiene environment would be a real advantage.
About the role
You will usually work after production has finished, from around 4.00pm onwards. We expect the hours to be around 12–16 hours per week, with some flexibility around the days of the week.
You will help clean and sanitise factory and production areas, shared facilities and agreed hygiene zones, making sure our site remains clean, safe and ready for the next working day.
What you’ll be doing
Your duties will include:
Cleaning and sanitising factory and production areas, including floors, walls, doors, surfaces and equipment areas.
Using industrial cleaning equipment, which may include foamers, pressure washers and hot/cold pressure hoses.
Following cleaning schedules, hygiene procedures and food safety standards.
Cleaning shared facilities, including toilets, changing areas, locker rooms, handwashing areas and welfare spaces.
Replenishing hygiene supplies such as soap, paper towels and toilet roll.
Removing rubbish and waste from agreed areas and disposing of it safely.
Using cleaning chemicals safely and in line with training, COSHH guidance and site procedures.
Wearing PPE correctly and following health and safety, food hygiene, manual handling and site rules.
Completing cleaning records, checklists or hygiene documentation where required.
Reporting hazards, damage, pest concerns, leaks, drainage issues, broken equipment or anything that cannot be dealt with safely.
What we’re looking for
You must have previous experience in industrial cleaning, factory cleaning, production hygiene, commercial cleaning or a similar practical cleaning role.
You will also need to be:
Reliable, punctual and able to work consistently to a high standard.
Comfortable working independently during quieter, out-of-hours periods.
Able to follow instructions, cleaning schedules and site procedures.
Physically able to carry out an active role involving standing, bending, lifting, mopping, scrubbing and using cleaning equipment.
Practical, careful and willing to take pride in keeping areas clean, safe and well presented.
Able to understand basic spoken and written English, including safety instructions, chemical labels, cleaning schedules and site procedures.
Confident to report concerns and ask for help when needed.
Able to travel to and from the site independently. Own transport is required due to our location and the working hours.
Desirable experience
It would be helpful if you have:
Previous experience as an industrial cleaner within a food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
Awareness of food hygiene, GMP, COSHH, manual handling or health and safety procedures.
Training
Full site induction will be provided.
Training will include relevant health and safety, food hygiene awareness, COSHH, PPE, manual handling, cleaning procedures and the safe use of any equipment required for the role.
Working environment
This is a factory-based role and may involve wet floors, cleaning chemicals, industrial equipment, chilled areas, production equipment, waste areas and physical cleaning tasks.
You must be comfortable working responsibly during quieter site hours and escalating any concerns appropriately.
