This role serves as the Finance Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Council’s ERP transformation programme. The position is pivotal in leading the design, implementation, and optimisation of the Unit4 ERP system. It ensures robust financial control, accurate reporting, and modernised finance processes, delivering a unified financial truth across the organisation.

Lead the finance SME efforts for the Unit4 ERP implementation and optimisation, including integration with HR and Payroll systems.

Design and implement modern financial processes, controls, and reporting frameworks in line with accounting standards and statutory requirements.

Own and optimise the Chart of Accounts (CoA), including coding structures, dimensions, workflows, and hierarchies.

Ensure financial systems provide accurate, timely, and meaningful reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, and statutory accounts.

Proven experience in delivering ERP financial system implementations, ideally with Unit4 (Agresso).

Strong background in financial accounting and reporting, ideally at Corporate or Chief Accountant level.

Experience in finance transformation and modernisation programmes.

Extensive experience in designing and managing complex Chart of Accounts structures.

CCAB qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or CIPFA).

Strong knowledge of financial accounting standards and reporting requirements.

Advanced Excel skills and strong data analysis capability.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
