Level 2 Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a caring and committed Level 2 Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Rochdale from September 2026. This full-time role offers the opportunity to play a vital part in supporting pupils' academic, social, and emotional development, particularly those with additional learning needs.
The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to help create an engaging and inclusive learning environment where every child can achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom support to teachers in delivering engaging lessons and learning activities.
- Work on a one-to-one basis pupilswith Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), offering tailored support throughout the school day.
- Deliver targeted intervention sessions with small groups of pupils to help accelerate progress in key areas.
- Support children in accessing the curriculum by adapting learning approaches to meet individual needs.
- Encourage the participation and inclusion of pupils.
- Promote positive behaviour, confidence, and independence among learners.
- Assist with the preparation and organisation of classroom resources and learning materials.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support individual education plans.
- Supervise pupils during breaktimes, educational visits, and other school activities when required.
- Ensure the safety, welfare, and well-being of all children in your care.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
- Previous experience supporting children in a school or educational setting.
- Knowledge and understanding of SEND, including autism and other additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient and nurturing approach when working with children.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
