About the Role
A specialist SEN school in Sutton is seeking a caring and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs in a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every pupil is encouraged to achieve their full potential.
The school supports pupils with a range of needs including Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), speech and language needs, and associated communication difficulties. You will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with SEN
- Assist pupils in accessing lessons and engaging with learning activities
- Support communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation
- Help implement EHCP targets and personalised support plans
- Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
- Promote independence and encourage positive learning behaviours
- Support pupils during break times, educational visits, and enrichment activities
- Assist with personal care where required
- Contribute to a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment
What We’re Looking ForEssential:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, resilient, and caring nature
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Right to Work in the UK
Desirable:
- Experience supporting pupils with ASC, MLD, SLD, PMLD, or speech and language needs
- Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, AAC, or sensory-based learning approaches
- Experience within a specialist SEN school, mainstream school, or care setting
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or health and social care

Pay: £97.68-£114.57 per day
