We are seeking a highly resilient, confident, and emotionally intelligent tutor to work with a Year 8 student who is currently not attending school. The student is a reluctant learner and can present with significant emotional dysregulation, including difficulty engaging, heightened anxiety, and challenging behaviours at times.The successful tutor must be able to remain calm, consistent, and in control of the learning environment, using clear boundaries and a trauma-informed approach to support re-engagement. This is not a mainstream tutoring role and would suit someone experienced in alternative provision, SEN, SEMH, or behaviour support.The tutor will be fully supported by an additional member of staff at all times, ensuring a safe, structured setting and allowing the tutor to focus on delivering learning effectively.The ideal tutor will:
- Have strong experience teaching Maths and English
- Be confident working with students who display challenging behaviour and emotional dysregulation
- Use structured, flexible approaches to build trust and gradually increase engagement
- Be patient, assertive, and able to de-escalate situations calmly
- Be reliable, professional, and committed to consistent attendance
