A long established sports club in Preston is looking to appoint a Bars and Catering Manager to support the next stage of its hospitality operation. This is a varied management role covering bars, catering, functions, rugby events and day to day site operations, ideal for someone confident leading from the front in a busy events led venue.
The club is home to a wide range of activity throughout the week, from room hire, conferences and meetings to birthdays, parties, weddings, informal dinners, junior events and rugby match days. With one main function room, multiple smaller rooms and three bars across the site, no two days are the same.
As Bars and Catering Manager, you will take responsibility for the smooth running of bar and catering operations across the main site. You will oversee functions and rugby events, support duty management, supervise the bar team, manage wet stock ordering and ensure the cellar, line cleaning and bar standards are maintained properly.
This role does not provide accommodation, so you must be able to reliably commute or relocate.

Bars and Catering Manager Ideal Profile:
- Strong bar and catering management background
- Proven experience supervising teams within hospitality, events or function led venues
- Personal Licence Holder is essential
- Confident managing events, functions, conferences and match days
- Experience within sports venues, clubs, function suites or event spaces would be desirable
- Operationally hands on and happy to support service when needed
- Strong knowledge of bar operations, wet stock ordering and cellar management
- Confident with cellar maintenance, line cleaning and stock control
- Natural leader who can motivate, support and inspire a team
- Highly organised with the ability to manage a varied and fast paced operation
- Flexible with working patterns and business needs
- Comfortable working in a venue where no two days are the same
- Professional, proactive and passionate about guest service
Bars and Catering Manager Responsibilities:
- Oversee bar and catering operations across the main site
- Manage all three bars, ensuring strong standards of service, stock and presentation
- Support the delivery of functions, conferences, meetings, parties, weddings and rugby events
- Act as Duty Manager during service periods and events
- Lead hands on service management across busy shifts
- Supervise, motivate and support the bar team
- Order all wet stock and manage inventory levels effectively
- Maintain cellar standards, including cellar organisation and line cleaning
- Support event logistics including staffing, set up, equipment and service delivery
- Act as a key point of contact for clients and guests during events
- Resolve any issues during service periods calmly and professionally
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organisation and presentation across front of house and back of house areas
- Ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety, food safety and bar safety regulations
- Contribute to improving operational efficiency and supporting the continued growth of the hospitality operation
