Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Retail Security Officer to oversee security operations within our retail environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a solid understanding of surveillance and loss prevention techniques. This role is vital in ensuring the safety of staff, customers, and assets, maintaining a secure shopping atmosphere. The position is paid and offers an opportunity to lead a professional security team in a dynamic retail setting.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the security team to ensure effective coverage across the retail premises
- Monitor surveillance systems, including CCTV, to identify suspicious activity and prevent theft or vandalism
- Implement loss prevention strategies by conducting patrols and inspecting high-risk areas regularly
- Respond promptly to security incidents, including emergencies, disturbances, or thefts, following established protocols
- Conduct regular security checks and maintain detailed incident reports for management review
- Provide first aid assistance when necessary and ensure safety procedures are followed by all team members
- Train new security personnel on company policies, surveillance operations, and emergency procedures
- Liaise with law enforcement agencies when required and assist with investigations related to theft or misconduct
Requirements
- Proven experience in retail security or a similar role with leadership responsibilities
- Strong knowledge of surveillance systems, CCTV operation, and loss prevention techniques
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Valid first aid certification is highly desirable
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively during emergencies
- Good communication skills to coordinate with team members and liaise with external agencies as needed
- Flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, weekends, or holidays as required
- A clean criminal record and the ability to pass background checks are essential
