Paediatric Nurse – Complex Care Package (2:1 Support)
Location: Muswell Hill
Hours: 44–45 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Day shifts, 7:00am – 7:00pm, 7 days per week
Client: 13-year-old male requiring 2:1 care in the community/home setting
About the Role
We are seeking experienced, confident and compassionate Paediatric Nurses to support a 13-year-old boy with highly complex healthcare needs within his home environment in Muswell Hill.
This is a 2:1 package of care, working alongside another nurse/support professional to provide safe, person-centred care in line with NMC standards and best practice guidelines.
The young person presents with:
- Challenging behaviours
- Severe global developmental delay
- Dystonia
- Dysphagia
- Severe language and communication disorder
- Epilepsy and seizures
- Suctioning requirements
This role is ideally suited to nurses with substantial experience supporting children and young people with complex neurological and behavioural needs in community or homecare settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care in accordance with NMC guidelines
- Support the client with all aspects of daily living and clinical care
- Monitor and manage epilepsy and seizure activity safely and effectively
- Undertake suctioning and respiratory support as required
- Support with oxygen therapy and nebulisers where required
- Manage and respond appropriately to challenging behaviours using de-escalation strategies and PMVA techniques
- Provide safe moving and handling support
- Work collaboratively with families, multidisciplinary teams and other carers
- Maintain accurate clinical records and risk assessments
- Promote dignity, safety, independence and wellbeing at all times
- Escalate concerns appropriately and follow safeguarding procedures
Essential Requirements
- Valid NMC registration – RNC/RN Child
- Minimum 1–2 years’ experience supporting children with complex healthcare needs
- Strong experience managing epilepsy and seizures
- Experience supporting clients with challenging behaviours
- Confident with suctioning and airway management
- Experience working with non-verbal children and learning disabilities
- PMVA/manual handling training or willingness to undertake training
- Excellent communication and observational skills
- Calm, resilient and confident working in high-dependency environments
