Job Overview
Positif Adventures is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Activity Instructor to join our team and plan, deliver and evaluate safe, engaging and developmentally appropriate outdoor adventure activities that inspire participation, resilience, teamwork and personal growth. The successful candidate will maintain the highest standards of safety, professionalism, equipment care and centre presentation while creating positive and rewarding experiences for all participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Activity Delivery
- Plan, prepare and deliver structured outdoor education sessions and adventure activities.
- Lead activities including walking, mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, gorge walking, archery and team-building exercises.
- Adapt sessions to meet individual needs, abilities and risk levels.
- Deliver Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award content in line with programme requirements.
- Support the delivery of centre-based educational modules and maintain awareness of educational file contents.
- Promote confidence, resilience, communication and teamwork in all sessions.
Health & Safety
- Conduct dynamic and written risk assessments in line with company SOP's and NGB guidance.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of National Governing Body (NGB) standards and guidelines.
- Respond effectively to emergencies and administer first aid where required.
- Report accidents, incidents and near misses in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain appropriate instructor-to-participant ratios.
Equipment & Facilities Management
- Inspect, maintain and store all activity equipment in accordance with company SOP's and manufacturer guidance.
- Keep accurate equipment inspection and maintenance records.
- Ensure all activity areas are safe, clean and well presented.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the activity centre, including indoor and outdoor spaces.
- Ensure all company vehicles are kept clean, roadworthy and checked regularly (vehicle checks logged as required).
Professional Standards
- Foster a positive, inclusive and supportive environment for all participants.
- Act as a positive role model at all times.
- Maintain professional boundaries and safeguarding standards.
- Participate in training, supervision and CPD as required.
- Represent the organisation professionally to schools, local authorities and external partners.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Complete session plans and evaluation records where required.
- Contribute to participant progress documentation linked to DofE or educational programmes.
- Support centre audits and compliance checks.
Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
- 100% completion of required equipment and vehicle safety checks.
- Full compliance with risk assessment and safeguarding procedures.
- Positive participant feedback and engagement outcomes.
- Accurate and timely completion of documentation and DofE records.
- Professional presentation and maintenance of centre facilities.
Person Specification
- Relevant NGB qualifications (or working towards).
- Valid First Aid qualification (Outdoor First Aid desirable).
- Experience delivering outdoor education or adventure activities.
- Strong understanding of health and safety requirements in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to engage and motivate young people.
- Full UK driving licence
Pay: Up to £33,800.00 per year
