teach195. is currently recruiting Food Technology Teachers to work in Secondary Schools across Manchester and the surrounding areas. We are working with a range of schools requiring support for both short-term daily cover and long-term teaching positions.
We are seeking dedicated and knowledgeable Food Technology Teachers who can deliver engaging practical and theory lessons while promoting creativity, independence and safe working practices within the classroom. These opportunities are suitable for experienced teachers, ECTs and educators looking to broaden their experience across different school settings.
The Role
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum, creating a safe and positive learning environment and supporting students in developing practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge and confidence within the subject.
Roles are available on both a flexible day-to-day basis and within longer-term placements to suit your availability and career goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver Food Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4
- Deliver practical and theory-based lessons that engage and challenge learners
- Teach key areas including nutrition, food preparation, health and safety, and food science
- Maintain a safe and organised classroom environment, ensuring all health and safety procedures are followed
- Monitor, assess and track student progress, providing feedback where appropriate
- Differentiate learning to support pupils of varying abilities and learning needs
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with school policies
- Prepare and organise ingredients, resources and equipment for practical lessons
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support the wider Design Technology department where required
- Uphold safeguarding and child protection policies at all times
What We Are Looking For
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Experience teaching Food Technology within UK Secondary Schools
- Strong subject knowledge and understanding of the Food Technology curriculum
- Confidence delivering practical lessons and managing classroom safety procedures
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Professional, organised and adaptable approach to teaching
- Commitment to supporting student progress and achievement
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development
