Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Chef to lead our culinary team Majority day time hours in a bistro style kitchen The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, extensive culinary expertise, and a passion for delivering exceptional dining experiences. This role involves overseeing all aspects of kitchen operations, ensuring food safety standards are maintained, and inspiring the team to achieve excellence in food production and presentation. The Head Chef will play a pivotal role in shaping the culinary direction of our establishment, fostering a positive working environment, and maintaining high standards of hospitality.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the kitchen team, including chefs, cooks, and kitchen assistants, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality food preparation.
- Oversee all aspects of food production, from menu planning and development to execution and presentation.
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including inventory control, ordering supplies, and maintaining cleanliness and organisation in compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Ensure adherence to food safety standards and proper handling of ingredients to guarantee the safety and quality of all dishes served.
- Develop innovative menus that reflect current culinary trends while catering to customer preferences.
- Provide training and mentorship to team members to enhance their skills and promote professional growth.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor kitchen performance metrics and implement improvements as necessary to optimise efficiency.
- Maintain a positive working environment that encourages teamwork, creativity, and accountability.
Qualifications
- Proven supervising experience within a professional kitchen environment, ideally in a restaurant or hospitality setting.
- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food presentation.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene management.
- Experience in menu development, food production processes, and maintaining high standards of quality.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks under pressure.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and other departments.
- Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, along with serving experience in hospitality settings.
