Kitchen Hand / Pot Wash – Seasonal Roles
The Three Jolly Sailors – YO13 Hospitality Ltd
Please read this carefully before applying
This is not a job for teenagers or anyone looking for an easy role. Please do not apply if that is what you are looking for.
This is a physically demanding, fast-paced position in a very busy professional kitchen. Many people assume pot wash or kitchen hand roles are easy — they are not, and they are definitely not in this kitchen.
We need reliable, hardworking individuals who understand the importance of high standards, consistency, and responsibility within a professional environment.
If you are not prepared to work hard, stay organised under pressure, and take pride in maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen — this role is not for you.
About the role
We are looking for two hardworking and reliable Kitchen Hands / Pot Wash staff to support our busy kitchen team for the season.
This is an essential role focused on keeping the kitchen clean, organised, and running efficiently during busy service.
This is a cleaning and support role only. You will not be involved in food preparation. Your responsibility is to maintain cleanliness, organisation, and hygiene standards across the kitchen while supporting the chefs.
The kitchen is fast-paced and physically demanding. You must be comfortable working under pressure and maintaining standards throughout service and closing.
Key responsibilities
Washing pots, pans, crockery, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout service.
Keeping all kitchen areas clean, organised, and hygienic at all times.
Maintaining cleaning schedules and hygiene standards.
Supporting the smooth running of service by ensuring equipment is available when needed.
Fetching food stock, ingredients, and supplies from dry stores, fridges, and storage areas to keep the kitchen running efficiently during service.
Keeping washing areas, floors, and storage areas clean and safe.
Assisting with general kitchen organisation and end-of-service cleaning.
Chefs are responsible for cleaning their own stations — you are responsible for overall kitchen cleanliness and final cleaning.
If working evening shifts, you will normally be the last to leave the kitchen after final clean-down is complete.
What we’re looking for
Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
Comfortable with physical work and being on your feet for long periods.
Able to work quickly and stay organised during busy service.
Good attitude and willingness to support the team.
Able to follow hygiene and safety procedures at all times.
No previous experience required — but a strong work ethic is essential.
Pay
National Minimum Wage.
Overtime paid at standard hourly rate.
All kitchen staff receive a share of tips.
Contract & opportunity
Two seasonal fixed-term positions available.
At the end of the season, one permanent full-time role may be offered based on performance, reliability, and attitude.
Working pattern
Must be available evenings, weekends, and peak holiday periods.
Trial period
A paid working trial shift will form part of the recruitment process to ensure the role is right for both you and us.
If you are reliable, hardworking, and want to be part of a professional kitchen team, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply with your CV and a short introduction.
