Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join our team as a part time Nursery Cook.
This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen on 3 set days every week, (minimum 16 hours) delivering high-quality meals to our babies and children.
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for providing children's heathy meals and a strong understanding of food safety practices, including the importance of managing food allergies and dietary requirements.
It is essential that the candidate has the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and/or cook a variety of nursery meals according to established methods and standards.
- Establish meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within the nursery kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations, risk assessments and nursery policies and procedure.
- Collaborate with our other nursery cook and housekeeper to ensure a consistency of service.
- Handle food items with care, ensuring proper techniques are used for cooking and serving.
- Participate in menu planning and contribute innovative ideas for new dishes.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and assist our housekeeper in stock management and weekly orders.
- Complete addition domestic duties eg laundry
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in meal preparation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
- A passion for food and a commitment to promoting healthy meals to children.
