The University of Reading School of Law wishes to appoint an outstanding lecturer in Commercial Law (as broadly defined but particularly in the fields of company law, finance law and regulation and/or banking law) to further enhance our academic faculty. Successful candidates will conduct research which enhances the research reputation of the School (in the latest Research Excellence Framework we doubled our percentage of 4* outputs and 99% of our research was judged to be world leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised). The successful applicant will take an appropriate role in the ambitious teaching and learning agenda of the School of Law, as well as the wider aspects of the student experience.

You will have:

A relevant degree;
- A PhD (completed or completed by commencement of the role);
- A record of research outputs appropriate to stage of career;
- Specialist research subject knowledge in Commercial Law (broadly defined but particularly in company law, financial regulation and/or banking law);
- Ability to conduct high quality (4* and 3* REF) research in a field of Commercial Law;
- Ability to make research funding applications appropriate to position of lecturer in law;
- Effective pedagogical and academic skills in teaching and tutoring;
- Ability to teach UG & PG students on Commercial Law modules (A);
- Ability to teach at least one core LLB subject (A and I) which you will be required to teach;
- Ability to lead curriculum development and/or student experience initiatives (A and I);
- Appropriate interpersonal, oral and written communication skills (A, I and P);
- The ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team, including working to deadlines and maintenance of appropriate documentation (A and I);
- Effective administration skills (A and I).
- Experience of teaching law at University level;
- Experience of academic administration or wider contributions to academic life;
- Experience of a pastoral role;
- A well-developed 5-year research plan;
- Enthusiastic, reliable, resourceful, flexible disposition;
- A willingness to play a significant role in the everyday life of the Law School.
