About the Role
WGYB Support CIC is looking for compassionate Volunteer Peer Mentors to support people leaving prison who are committed to rebuilding their lives and overcoming addiction.
As a mentor, you'll provide encouragement, practical support and a positive influence during the early stages of someone's recovery journey.
Your Role May Include
- Meeting individuals on release from prison.
- Supporting appointments with probation, CGL, GP or Jobcentre.
- Helping people settle into supported accommodation.
- Providing encouragement and a listening ear.
- Promoting confidence, independence and accountability.
- Being a consistent, positive role model.
We're Looking For Someone Who Is
- Compassionate and non-judgemental.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
- A good listener with strong people skills.
- Passionate about helping others succeed.
Lived experience of recovery or the criminal justice system is welcomed but not essential.
