We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Accounts Trainee to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a school or college leaver who is keen to start a professional career in accounting while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
You will receive full on-the-job training, mentoring from experienced professionals, and fully funded study support towards the AAT qualification, giving you a strong foundation for a long-term career in accountancy.
Location and hours
Your working time will be predominantly based in our Horsham town centre office, but there may be occasions to work at our other offices and client premises. Your working hours are 9:15am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday, with a 1 hour lunch break from 1pm.
The Role
As an Accounts Trainee, you will work closely with senior members of the team to support a wide range of accounting and business services for our clients. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with bookkeeping and VAT return preparation using Xero and VT
- Supporting the preparation of year-end statutory accounts for small and medium-sized businesses
- Working alongside bookkeepers, payroll specialists and tax advisers to deliver a high-quality, joined-up service
- Communicating with colleagues and clients in a professional and confident manner
- Learning and developing your technical and commercial understanding of accounting
You will be given structured training, ongoing support, and increasing responsibility as your skills and confidence grow.
Study
We will fund your study towards the AAT qualification and you will receive the necessary time off to study and attend tuition at our chosen training providers.
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who is:
- a recent College or School leaver who is Academically strong and eager to learn
- confident using Excel and basic IT systems
- a clear and professional communicator
- well organised and able to meet deadlines
- self-motivated, reliable and keen to take responsibility
Most importantly, you will have a positive attitude and a genuine interest in building a career in accounting.
