Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated HDR (Housing Disrepair) Paralegal to join our legal team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting housing disrepair cases, ensuring efficient case management and effective communication with clients and stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Assist solicitors in preparing and managing housing disrepair cases from inception to resolution
- Conduct legal research related to housing law and relevant regulations
- Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, and reports using Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Maintain accurate case files and ensure all documentation is up-to-date and organised
- Liaise with clients, landlords, contractors, and other stakeholders via email and phone calls
- Manage deadlines effectively using time management skills to ensure timely case progression
- Utilise Microsoft Excel for data entry, tracking case progress, and reporting purposes
- Organise meetings, appointments, and court dates efficiently
- Support the team with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and document scanning
Experience
- Previous experience working as a paralegal or in a legal support role is essential; training will be provided
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential
- Good IT literacy with the ability to adapt to new software systems quickly
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Demonstrated time management skills to handle multiple cases simultaneously
- Knowledge of housing law or housing disrepair issues is advantageous but not mandatory; a keen interest in this area is preferred
