Overview
This position is for an immediate start for a three week period.
Freelance Chef or Kitchen Assistant to join a three-person catering team on a film or TV production based in the Skipton and Harrogate area for three consecutive weeks.
This role would suit a KP, trainee chef, or a chef looking for a change of pace. If you have any hospitality experience and are happy to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in. What you do need is a practical attitude, physical stamina, reliability, and genuine enthusiasm for the work.
This is a hands-on, practical role working from a mobile kitchen. You will be supporting the Head Chef and Souse Chef with all aspects of the day-to-day catering operation — from early morning breakfast service through to lunch and beyond. You will also be driving one of our company vans to deliver hot food directly to the film set, which means you will have face-to-face contact with cast, crew, directors, and production staff. A friendly, professional manner and the ability to get on with a wide range of people matters here just as much as kitchen ability.
What You Will Be Doing
Breakfast Service
- Setting up the breakfast buffet each morning — working outside using our pop-up shelters and mobile kitchen setup
- Help preparing and laying out a full cooked breakfast for cast and crew
- Keeping the buffet stocked, tidy and presented throughout service
- Clearing down and cleaning up efficiently after service so the kitchen is ready for the next job
Food Preparation and Kitchen Support
- Preparing vegetables, salads and ingredients for lunch and other meals
- Making sandwiches and packed food for set delivery
- Supporting the Head Chef & Soues Chef with whatever preparation and cooking is needed
- General kitchen duties as directed — this is a small team and everyone helps with everything
Pot Wash and Kitchen Cleanliness
- Pot wash and washing up throughout the day
- Keeping the mobile kitchen, dry store and chiller clean, tidy and organised
- Helping with stock rotation, labelling and storage
Driving to Set
- Loading and driving a company van to deliver hot boxes and food to the film set
- Collecting and returning equipment from set
- Liaising with production runners, ADs and production staff on set — being friendly, calm and professional
- Representing Chorley Bunce well when dealing with cast and crew directly.
Essential
- Full UK driving licence — you will be driving a company van
- Physically fit and able to handle manual work — this involves lifting, loading, and being on your feet all day in an outdoor and mobile environment
- Reliable and dependable — production schedules cannot wait and service times cannot move
- Friendly and confident dealing with people — you will be taking food to the film set and working alongside cast and crew
- A practical, can-do attitude — no two days are exactly the same on a film production
- Able to commit to the full three-week production run without interruption
- Self-employed or able to set up as self-employed — you must be able to invoice for work.
Desirable
- Some experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality environment
- A food hygiene certificate (Level 2 or above) we can arange a onlice Level 2 if you dont have one.
- Experience working in events, outside catering, contract catering, or a similar practical catering environment
- Comfortable working early starts and long days when the production requires it
Pay: £17.00-£17.50 per hour
