Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Support Engineer to join our dynamic IT team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting complex computer systems, networks, and infrastructure to ensure seamless operational performance. Duties
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for hardware, software, and network issues across the organisation.
- Manage and maintain system environments including Windows Server, Linux, VMware, Azure, and AWS platforms.
- Configure and support network components such as DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and Active Directory services.
- Perform system administration tasks including user account management via Active Directory and Microsoft Office 365 applications like Outlook, Excel, SharePoint.
- Develop scripts using PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), or Python to automate routine tasks and improve system efficiencies.
- Monitor network performance and security; implement necessary updates or patches to safeguard infrastructure.
- Assist with virtualisation projects using VMware and other related technologies to optimise resource utilisation.
- Maintain documentation of systems configurations, procedures, and incident reports for audit purposes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support cloud migration initiatives and system upgrades.
- Provide exceptional customer service by resolving technical issues promptly while maintaining clear communication with users.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in system administration within a Windows/Linux environment with strong understanding of Microsoft Windows Server and Linux OS.
- Extensive knowledge of computer networking concepts including DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP protocols, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP communication.
- Hands-on experience with Active Directory management and organisational skills in user account provisioning.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure; experience with virtualization tools like VMware is desirable.
- Proficiency in scripting languages including PowerShell, Bash (Unix shell), or Python for automation purposes.
- Strong understanding of IT security principles including firewall configuration and network security best practices.
- Excellent communication skills in English; ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
- Organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with SQL databases and system analysis skills are advantageous.

Pay: Up to £51,500.00 per year
