HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic
Birmingham
45 Hours per Week | Monday to Friday
Salary: Up to £47,900 per annum DOE
We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established commercial vehicle organisation for an experienced HGV Technician / HGV Mechanic to join their growing Aftermarket team in Birmingham.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician looking to work within a professional and supportive environment, maintaining specialist refuse collection vehicles to high industry standards.
The Role
As an HGV Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring vehicles are maintained, repaired, and returned to service safely and efficiently. The position involves both workshop and occasional customer site work.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on chassis and mounted equipment
- Service and maintain vehicles to DVSA/VOSA standards
- Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections
- Complete body and chassis repairs in line with Department of Transport standards
- Accurately complete job cards and update company systems
- Work independently and liaise professionally with customers on-site
- Ensure all work is completed efficiently and to a high standard
- Follow all health & safety procedures and complete risk assessments where required
- Attend training courses to enhance technical knowledge and skills
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Previous experience working on commercial or heavy goods vehicles
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
- Good understanding of hydraulics, electronics, and wiring diagrams
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and manage workloads effectively
- Flexibility to work overtime when required
Desirable (Not Essential)
- Experience working with electric vehicles
- IRTEC qualification
- HGV Class 2 licence
