Job Summary
The aim of the Charity is to provide treatment, care and accommodation to cats and kittens in need and to reduce the number of stray and abandoned cats through a neutering programme. It is the main function of the Sanctuary Assistant to assist the Sanctuary Manager with all animal welfare and care, as well as work with all Trustees, Staff, Volunteers, Vets, Suppliers and the Public to ensure the charity meets these aims as well as the following primary roles and responsibilities:
- to ensure excellent animal welfare and customer service
- to contribute to a safe and legal operation, dealing with change as required, reporting any concerns or issues directly to the Sanctuary Manager
- to model the correct behaviour and values at all times
Day to Day Animal Welfare:
- Ensure pens are cleaned to the correct standard every day - this includes cleaning out litter trays
- Maintain a high standard of animal awareness, liaising with the Sanctuary Manager if there are any concerns over a cat's health
- Interact with the cats on a daily basis
- Clean and sanitise vacant pens ready for cat arrivals
- Action any/all medications prescribed to any/all cats
- In addition other tasks such as assisting with microchipping, taking cats to/from the vet, site safety, customer relations when assisting with rehoming and any other day-to-day tasks within your capabilities may be required to ensure the smooth running of the Sanctuary
Essential Qualifications:
Desirable Qualifications / Skills:
- Basic Animal Welfare Qualification
- Microchip Trained
- Fire Safety Officer
- First Aider
Relevant training will be provided as necessary.
This job is 37.5 hours per week and may occasionally include a Saturday or Sunday with time off in lieu.
Due to the location of the Sanctuary, candidates should ideally be able to drive.
Uniforms will be provided.
28 days holiday including bank holidays pro rated.
