Make a difference. Maintain Homes. Support Independence
At Stepping Stone Projects, we’re committed to preventing homelessness, promoting independence, and empowering people to build stable, lasting futures.
We’re looking for a proactive and compassionate Housing Management Officer to join our Whitworth Road service in Rochdale. Whitworth Road is a supported accommodation scheme made up of 14 self-contained flats for people experiencing homelessness with a local connection to the Rochdale area. The service supports individuals with complex needs, providing a structured and supportive environment to help them move on successfully into longer-term accommodation.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference, supporting customers in a trauma-informed, person-centred and asset-based way. You’ll work alongside individuals to develop the skills and confidence they need to live independently and also help customers maintain safe and secure homes, build daily living skills, and prepare for independent living.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you’ll manage a defined caseload and work alongside colleagues and partner agencies to help customers build the skills and stability they need for independent living. You’ll support individuals to:
-
Secure and sustain welfare and housing benefits, access banking services, and obtain essential ID
-
Work in partnership with external agencies, including drug and alcohol, primary care, and mental health services, to encourage engagement
-
Develop customers’ budgeting, tenancy management, and independent living skills
-
Support customers to maintain a clean, safe and secure home, and prepare for successful move-on to longer-term accommodation
-
Proactively manage tenancies, including monitoring rent payments, addressing arrears, and responding to anti-social behaviour
-
Carry out property checks, prepare properties for re-let, liaise with landlords and contractors, and maintain accurate records and reports
About You
We would love to hear from you if you bring the following:
-
Experience of working with people with complex needs, who may be challenging to work with, and to respond to conflict situations in a calm yet firm manner
-
A confident outlook with a positive, ‘can do’ attitude
-
The ability to deal with people on a variety of different levels with a professional approach
-
Ability to manage a caseload
-
Good time management and IT skills
-
An understanding of housing management
