Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for young children in our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and experience in culinary environments, ensuring that all meals meet safety standards and dietary requirements. Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of nutritious meals and snacks suitable for children in accordance with dietary guidelines and menu plans.
- Ensure all food is prepared in a safe, hygienic manner, adhering to food safety regulations.
- Assist with meal planning and portion control to meet individual dietary needs.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitising surfaces, and storing ingredients properly.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify management when supplies need replenishing.
- Collaborate with childcare staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth service during busy periods.
- Follow health and safety protocols at all times to prevent accidents or contamination.
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation and cooking, preferably within a childcare or similar setting.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with staff members.
- Experience in meal preparation for children is highly desirable.
