Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Telehandler Operator to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating telehandlers to assist with the movement and placement of materials on-site. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, commercial driving experience, and familiarity with excavators. The ideal applicant will demonstrate excellent organisational skills and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate telehandlers efficiently to lift, move, and position materials across various site locations
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure safety and operational readiness
- Assist with loading and unloading materials from lorries or storage areas
- Collaborate with site managers and other operatives to coordinate material handling tasks
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance schedules
- Follow all health and safety regulations, including the safe operation of machinery in potentially hazardous environments
- Support with basic mechanical troubleshooting when necessary to minimise downtime
Experience
- Proven experience operating telehandlers in a commercial or construction setting
- Valid certification for telehandler operation recognised within the industry
- Experience with excavators is desirable but not essential
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and routine maintenance procedures
- Previous experience in commercial driving, including the operation of lorries or similar vehicles, is advantageous
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in busy construction or industrial environments
