About Us
The Little Learning Club is a friendly tutoring centre in Hertford supporting primary-aged children. Our focus is on building confidence, curiosity and a love of learning, rather than exam pressure or rigid academic targets. Sessions are engaging, creative and supportive, helping children feel positive about school and their abilities.
The Role
We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable tutors to deliver 1:1 tutoring sessions on a zero-hours basis. Sessions typically take place after school and weekends.
You will support children with core English and maths skills through structured activities, games and discussion in a welcoming and encouraging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging Maths and/or English sessions for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils
- Plan and deliver 1:1 sessions
- Help build children’s confidence and enjoyment of learning
- Provide encouragement and positive feedback to pupils
- Maintain a safe, supportive learning environment
- Communicate any key feedback about pupils to parents and/or owner of business
Requirements
Essential:
- Experience teaching or tutoring children in a primary education setting.
- Strong subject knowledge in English and Maths from EYFS to Key Stage 2.
- Excellent communication, organisation, punctuality and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Enhanced DBS certificate (current or obtained prior to commencing work).
Desirable:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent experience.
- Experience supporting children with additional learning needs.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms (e.g. Zoom, Google Classroom).
Safeguarding and Child Protection
The Little Learning Club is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
All tutors must:
- Hold a valid enhanced DBS certificate with children’s barred list check.
- Complete safeguarding training before delivering sessions.
- Follow all safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly.
