About the Role
Refurbit is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Communications & Engagement Officer to lead the promotion of both Refurbit and the organisations we support.
This is not a traditional marketing role. It is about telling stories, creating impact and helping charities, community groups and social enterprises engage with their communities.
Working across multiple organisations, you will create digital and printed content, manage social media, produce videos and photography, develop campaigns, support fundraising activities, and help demonstrate the impact of community projects.
You will spend time both in the office and out in the community, visiting projects, attending events and capturing the stories that deserve to be told.
Key Responsibilities
Communications
- Develop and deliver communication plans for Refurbit and partner organisations.
- Produce engaging content for websites, newsletters and blogs.
- Write case studies, news articles and impact stories.
- Create promotional material for community events and campaigns.
- Maintain a consistent brand across all communications.
Social Media
- Manage multiple social media accounts.
- Plan and schedule regular content.
- Create engaging posts, reels and stories.
- Respond to comments and messages where appropriate.
- Monitor engagement and identify opportunities for growth.
Video & Photography
- Capture photography and video at community projects.
- Produce short-form video content for Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
- Produce longer-form YouTube content highlighting projects and organisational impact.
- Edit video and images for publication.
Digital Marketing
- Support Google Ads and Meta advertising campaigns.
- Assist with SEO improvements.
- Update websites using WordPress or similar platforms.
- Monitor website analytics and campaign performance.
- Assist with email marketing campaigns.
Design
- Produce posters, leaflets, banners and promotional materials.
- Design presentations, reports and printed resources.
- Create event branding and exhibition materials.
- Ensure all materials meet organisational branding standards.
Community Engagement
- Visit partner organisations to gather stories and content.
- Attend community events, open days and launches.
- Build relationships with community organisations.
- Promote volunteering opportunities and community activities.
- Support awareness campaigns around digital inclusion, sustainability and technology reuse.
Shared Services Support
Provide communications support to partner organisations including:
- Social media management.
- Website updates.
- Event promotion.
- Community campaigns.
- Newsletters.
- Press releases.
- Impact reporting.
- Marketing advice and guidance.
