38 hours per week (Monday–Friday)
We are recruiting for a full-time GP Receptionist to join our busy and friendly practice in West Swindon, serving a patient population of over 10,000 patients. This is a challenging yet highly rewarding role offering variety, responsibility, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive and professional team.
The post holder will provide a courteous, efficient and effective reception service to all patients, members of the public, staff and other professionals visiting or contacting the Practice.
The post holder will ensure effective and timely communication with all members of the Primary Healthcare Team and will carry out all associated administrative tasks in line with Practice policies, with particular attention to confidentiality at all times.
Duties
- Responding to patient enquiries face-to-face, by telephone, and online
- Booking, amending, and checking-in patient appointments
- Managing prescription queries
- Supporting administrative tasks including:
- Scanning and filing
- Patient registrations
- General reception and office duties
- Ensuring excellent patient service at all times in a busy environment
Working Hours
- 38 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
- 3-week rotating shift pattern:
- 8:00am – 4:00pm
- 10:00am – 6:00pm
- Flexibility required for:
- Occasional 7:00am starts
- Occasional 6:30pm finishes
Skills
Essential:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Confident computer and IT skills
- Experience in a customer service or patient-facing role
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a busy environment
Desirable:
- Previous experience within a GP practice or healthcare setting (not essential—training provided)

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
