Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Housing Disrepair Paralegal to join our legal team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in housing law and client advocacy. The successful candidate will support case management, liaise with clients and stakeholders, and assist in preparing legal documentation related to housing disrepair claims. Duties
- Assist solicitors with case preparation, including drafting correspondence and legal documents using Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- Manage case files efficiently, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
- Communicate effectively with clients, landlords, and external agencies via telephone and email, demonstrating strong communication skills.
- Schedule appointments, meetings, and court dates using Microsoft Outlook, ensuring timely follow-up.
- Conduct research on relevant housing legislation and regulations to support case strategies.
- Organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines through effective time management and organisational skills.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in compliance with data protection policies.
- Support the team in administrative tasks as required, contributing to a smooth workflow.
Experience
- Proven experience in HDR.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential.
- Strong IT skills with the ability to adapt to new software tools quickly.
- Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Experience working within a legal environment or as a paralegal is advantageous but not essential; training will be provided for suitable candidates committed to learning.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, maintaining professionalism at all times. This role offers valuable experience within the legal sector, supporting those affected by housing disrepair issues while developing essential skills for a future career in law.
Competencies Requirements:
Graduate – Law preferred LPC, SQE or CILEx qualification or working towards Knowledge of general litigation Must have a good telephone manner, with confidence in delivery Excellent understanding of Proclaim or other case management system Be able to establish priorities and manage deadlines Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and relevant practice and business IT systems Highly motivated and pro-active team player Must be able to work in a flexible environment Work Location: The successful candidate will be required to be situated in our City Centre Manchester office 3 days a week. Office hours 8am – 6.30pm.
Pay: £26,000.00-£30,000.00 per year
