About the Role
As an English Lecturer, you will deliver high-quality teaching across a range of programmes, delivering sessions for GCSE resit or Functional Skills English Entry-Level 1, supporting students with diverse needs to succeed in their studies. You will contribute to curriculum development, course leadership and quality assurance, using your subject expertise to create engaging learning experiences. Alongside teaching, you will support students through mentoring and assessment, ensuring progress is tracked and achievements are recognised.
We have two positions for this vacancy:

1 Full time - 35.5 hours

£33,787 – £42,766 salary + employer pension contribution of £9,690 – £12,265 per year

1 Part time - 28.5 hours
£27,124.77 - £34,333.27 salary + employer pension contribution of £7,779.30 – £9,846.55 per year
Key Responsibilities

Plan, deliver and assess engaging English lessons across further education provision

Develop and adapt curriculum materials to support high-quality teaching and learning

Monitor and track learner progress, providing timely feedback and support

Contribute to course leadership, quality assurance and curriculum development activities

Support student recruitment, retention and achievement across programmes

Manage the classroom environment to ensure a safe, inclusive and productive learning space

Provide guidance, coaching and pastoral support to learners to help them succeed

Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective programme delivery and continuous improvement
Essential Criteria
-
Hold a Level 5 teaching qualification (or be willing to work towards one)

Relevant degree or recognised qualification in English or a related subject

Experience of teaching or training within further education or a similar setting

Strong understanding of GCSE English delivery and effective teaching methods

Ability to engage and motivate learners, supporting a wide range of needs and abilities

Experience within Functional Skills English
Desirable Criteria

Experience delivering Functional Skills English (Entry Level to Level 2)

Experience teaching GCSE resit learners in a further education setting

Experience supporting learners with additional needs or barriers to learning
