We are currently recruiting on behalf of a client for multiple Senior Residential Workers in the Middlesbrough area to join a long-stay children’s home supporting young people.
This is a rewarding opportunity to take on a senior position within a residential setting, supporting children who have experienced significant trauma. You will act as a role model and mentor, helping young people build positive relationships, develop life skills, and engage with education in a safe, structured environment. While the role can be challenging, it offers the chance to make a genuinely lasting impact on young lives.
*Key Responsibilities: *
- Plan and deliver child-centred cultural, physical, play, and recreational activities
- Lead, support, and motivate a dedicated team of residential staff
- Work directly with children with learning disabilities, providing daily care and support
- Contribute to and implement effective care plans tailored to each child’s needs
- Build and maintain appropriate therapeutic relationships with young people
- Develop and apply an understanding of therapeutic childcare practice
- Monitor the care and progress of assigned children within the home
- Work flexibly across a 24/7 rota, including long days, sleep-ins, and waking night shifts
*Key Requirements: *
- Previous experience working with children or adults with learning disabilities
- A resilient, empathetic approach and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for young people
- Ability to think creatively and support children to reach their full potential
- Willingness to work towards or hold an NVQ Level 4
- Desire to undertake ongoing training and professional development
- Strong communication skills and the ability to think critically
- Full UK driving licence
Contract Type: Temporary
Pay Rate: £16.08
