Tuition Centre Manager – Tuition & Academic Excellence Lead
Location: Ilford / Newbury Park, East London (fully on-site role)
Salary: £35,000 base salary + up to £6000 yearly discretionary performance bonus
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours per week)
About the Role
We are seeking a high-calibre Centre Manager to take ownership of the daily leadership, academic quality, and commercial performance of a growing tuition centre.
This is a leadership role, not an administrative position. You will not be considered for this role unless you have prior managerial experience for 12+ months.
You will be responsible for driving standards across teaching quality, student progress, parent satisfaction, and centre growth. The role requires someone confident operating in a fast-paced environment where education, operations, and customer experience intersect.
You will act as the key point of leadership within the centre, ensuring consistency, accountability, and excellence across all areas.
Requirements:
You must have:
- A Bachelor’s degree from a university in the UK
- Secondary school and college school experience in the UK
- Previous managerial and sales experience. Managerial roles in the education sector are preferred, but not necessary.
Ideal but not necessary:
- Experience working as a tutor, teacher or a role within an educational environment in the UK
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Centre Performance
- Take full ownership of daily centre operations and performance
- Ensure high standards of teaching delivery across all year groups
- Maintain safeguarding compliance and operational excellence at all times
- Lead the centre culture, expectations, and academic discipline
Parent Experience & Enrolment
- Conduct structured consultations with prospective families
- Oversee onboarding of new students and trial lesson conversions
- Manage parent communication, expectations, and satisfaction
- Handle escalations and complaints professionally and effectively
Academic Quality & Delivery
- Ensure structured delivery of English, Maths, VR and NVR programmes
- Support tutors in delivering consistent, high-impact lessons
- Monitor student progress and ensure intervention where needed
- Maintain academic systems and teaching consistency across staff
Team Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, and develop tutors
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback
- Set clear expectations for lesson delivery and classroom standards
- Build a high-performance, accountable teaching team
Commercial Growth
- Support conversion of trial students into long-term enrolments
- Drive retention through strong parent relationships and results
- Contribute to centre growth strategy, including courses and events
- Support delivery of crash courses, holiday programmes, and exams prep initiatives
Marketing & Brand Support
- Support creation of educational and promotional content where required
- Assist in development of social media and outreach initiatives
- Contribute ideas for events, workshops, and community engagement
Working Hours & Structure
This role follows a structured 3-week rotating rota, designed to ensure operational consistency and fair weekend coverage.
Standard Hours
- Weekdays: 12:00pm – 8:00pm (8 hours)
- Weekends: 9:00am – 5:00pm (8 hours)
- Total: 40 hours per week

Rotating Schedule
Week 1 – Weekend Off
- Monday–Friday: Working
- Saturday–Sunday: Off
Week 2 – Saturday & Sunday Split Coverage
- Includes Saturday working and Sunday working within structured rotation
Week 3 – Weekend Split Coverage
- Includes Sunday working with adjusted weekday rest days
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in management or leadership roles (essential)
- Ideally from an education, tutoring, school, or student services background
- Confident managing both people and performance
- Strong in communication with parents and staff
- Commercially aware and results-driven
- Comfortable working in a high-accountability environment
This is suited to someone who wants real ownership of a centre, not a passive operational role.
