Grittleton House is a stunning, family-owned wedding and events venue set in the heart of the Wiltshire countryside. With its beautiful interiors, onsite accommodation, and welcoming atmosphere, it provides the perfect setting for weddings, private celebrations, and corporate events.
We're looking for a reliable and practical Night Porter to help ensure our guests enjoy a safe, comfortable and welcoming stay.
About the Role
This is a casual, flexible role that would suit someone looking to supplement their income with occasional overnight shifts, particularly during weekends and our busy wedding season.
As the only member of staff on site overnight, you'll act as a friendly point of contact for guests, carry out routine checks around the property, and help keep guest areas tidy and presentable. The role combines guest support, basic venue security, and some housekeeping duties.
This is not a full-time position, and shifts are offered on an ad hoc basis according to business needs.
Typical Shift: 11:00pm – 7:00am, weekend work is required
Key Responsibilities
- Be the main point of contact for overnight guests staying at Grittleton House and the Stable B&B
- Carry out checks of the building and grounds to ensure everything is safe and secure
- Respond appropriately to any issues, guest enquiries or emergencies that arise during the night
- Monitor fire alarm activations and follow emergency procedures if required
- Ensure guest areas remain clean, tidy and welcoming throughout the night
- Collect and wash glasses from guest areas
- Tidy lounges, corridors and event spaces
- Check and refresh guest toilet facilities as required
- Complete light housekeeping and venue reset tasks to support the daytime team
- Record and report any maintenance, safety or guest-related issues
What We’re Looking For
- Dependable, trustworthy and comfortable working independently
- Friendly and approachable, excellent spoken English with good customer service skills
- Calm and practical when dealing with unexpected situations
- Happy carrying out a mixture of guest-facing and housekeeping duties
- Physically able to walk around the venue and complete light cleaning tasks
- Available to work occasional overnight shifts, particularly at weekends
- Previous experience in hospitality, customer service, caretaking, night porter, concierge or similar roles would be beneficial, but is not essential.
- First aid training is desirable.
