Pay Rate: £21.00 PAYE | £26.99 Umbrella per hour
Contract: Temporary (12 Weeks)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy Market Manager to support the day-to-day operational and commercial management of a busy market service within a local authority setting. This is a key leadership role supporting the Market Manager and taking responsibility for service delivery in their absence.
Job Purpose
You will play a central role in the operational management, development, and commercial performance of a large municipal market and associated specialty markets. The role focuses on income generation, trader engagement, compliance, and service improvement, ensuring the markets operate safely, efficiently, and successfully.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the daily operational management of market services across the borough
- Deputise for the Market Manager when required
- Drive income generation and support commercial growth of market operations
- Manage trader relationships, including recruitment, retention, and performance
- Ensure full operational compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements
- Oversee site operations, resolving issues and ensuring smooth day-to-day running
- Support staff management and contribute to workforce coordination
- Work with stakeholders to improve service delivery and customer experience
- Contribute to strategic development and long-term planning for market services
About You
- Experience in market management, retail operations, or local authority commercial services
- Strong leadership and operational management skills
- Proven ability to manage budgets, income streams, or commercial environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for service delivery
- Knowledge of health & safety and compliance in public-facing environments
