Westmorland and Furness Council is looking to appoint an Highways (Asset Management) Technician to support the management and administrative functions of the Highway Asset Management Team. We are looking to recruit a friendly and motivated candidate to join the team as the highways service continues to grow and develop. We are looking for someone who can ensure all work activities are carried out with a focus on improvement, attention to detail and meeting timescales.
The Role
Reporting to the Highways Asset Lead, this role will develop, support, maintain and update various highway GIS applications, asset data systems and electronic data capture software applications. The role will require you to participate in the collection of asset information, including site investigation work, the evaluation of condition surveys and assist in the preparation of priority treatment schemes lists for use in the development of the Highways Capital Programme.

The right candidate will be driven, flexible and proactive, ensuring all work is completed to the expected standards. A relevant technical, vocational, or part-professional qualification is essential, as is knowledge of highways maintenance services.
We are looking for someone who can adapt well to the demands of the service, enjoys working as part of a team and is willing to undertake tasks commensurate with the team as a whole. The ability to travel throughout Westmorland and Furness and surrounding areas is essential.
