SEND Teaching Assistant – SEND School

Contract Type: Full-Time
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:30am - 3:30pm
Start Date: ASAP
Pay Rate: £14.25– £17.35 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive SEND school in the Chorley area. This is a full-time opportunity, with the potential to go to a permanent contract, and would be ideal for candidates who are passionate about supporting children with additional needs.
The Role:
- Provide tailored support to pupils with SEND, either 1:1 or in small groups.
- Support pupils to access learning activities adapted to their individual needs.
- Implement behaviour support plans and use de-escalation strategies effectively.
- Support emotional regulation, communication, and social development.
- Promote independence, confidence, and positive behaviour.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff.
- Maintain a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment.
- Monitor pupil progress and contribute to reviews, EHCP targets, and support plans.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEND (essential)
- Experience within SEND schools or alternative provision settings (preferred)
- Relevant childcare or teaching assistant qualifications (highly desirable)
- Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Right to work in the UK
- Valid Enhanced DBS certificate (or willingness to apply)
- Full and up-to-date CV
- Ability to provide two professional references
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
