Rough Sleeper Support Worker
Location: Walsall
Pay Rate: £16.35 PAYE / £22.00 Umbrella per hour
Contract: 12 Months, Temporary
Hours: 7:00am – 3:00pm (Monday–Friday)
On-site Requirement: 5 days per week
Seven Resourcing is recruiting for an experienced Rough Sleeper Support Worker to join a Housing & Welfare service in Walsall. This is a frontline outreach role supporting vulnerable adults who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, or experiencing complex needs.
You will play a key role in reducing repeat homelessness by engaging directly with rough sleepers, completing assessments, and delivering tailored support plans that promote independence, stability, and long-term accommodation outcomes.
This is a highly rewarding but challenging role, requiring resilience, compassion, and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced and often unpredictable environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out outreach work across the Walsall borough to identify and engage rough sleepers.
- Respond to referrals and complete follow-up visits.
- Undertake holistic risk and needs assessments.
- Develop, implement, and review personalised support and risk management plans.
- Support service users to develop life skills, confidence, and independence.
- Assist individuals in accessing accommodation, benefits, and support services.
- Provide crisis support and regular scheduled interventions.
- Encourage engagement with education, training, employment, and community support.
- Organise and accompany service users to appointments where required.
- Maintain accurate case records, support plans, and outcome tracking.
- Work flexibly, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
- Safeguard vulnerable adults and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Collaborate with partner agencies, housing providers, and internal teams.
Requirements
- Experience working with homeless individuals, rough sleepers, or vulnerable adults.
- Strong ability to complete holistic assessments and develop support plans.
- Experience working with complex needs including mental health, substance misuse, or offending backgrounds.
- Ability to manage challenging and high-risk situations calmly and professionally.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience maintaining accurate case records and documentation.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early shifts and occasional weekends.
Desirable Experience
- Outreach or street-based support experience.
- Knowledge of housing legislation, welfare rights, and debt support.
- Experience working within housing, homelessness services, or supported accommodation.
- Experience supervising volunteers or supporting trainees (advantageous).
