We are seeking a confident, experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a supportive mainstream primary school in Hillingdon. This is a varied and rewarding role, combining 1:1 SEN support with whole-class cover during PPA time for teaching staff.
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting learning, behaviour, and engagement, while also delivering planned lessons in the absence of class teachers.
The Role:
- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with SEN or additional needs
- Support pupils with behaviour management, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Deliver sensory-based and play-based interventions to support learning and development
- Work closely with class teachers and SENCO to implement tailored support strategies
- Support access to the curriculum across a range of subjects
- Cover whole classes during PPA time, delivering pre-planned lessons set by the class teacher
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively during PPA cover sessions
- Ensure continuity of learning and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
- Assist with personal care or mobility needs where required
- Monitor progress and provide clear feedback to teaching staff
- Promote independence, social skills, and positive relationships
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience working in a primary school setting is essential
- HLTA status or equivalent HLTA experience
- Proven experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
- Confidence in leading whole-class teaching and delivering pre-set lessons
- Strong behaviour management skills and a calm, consistent approach
- Ability to deliver engaging, sensory and play-based learning activities
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Pay: £100.00-£120.00 per day
