We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and engaging tutor to support a Year 10 learner who is currently unable to attend school due to significant social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and helping young people reconnect with education at their own pace.
Role Details;
- Location: Stafford
- Start Date: Immediate
- Hours: 6 hours per week (3 x 2-hour sessions)
- Schedule: Flexible days, hours between 10.30am and 2.45pm
- Delivery: Initially home-based, with the aim of progressing to community-based learning as confidence develops.
About the Learner;
The student is a Year 10 learner who has been out of education for several months due to mental health challenges. They are very quiet and reserved, so success in this role will depend on developing trust and creating a calm, supportive learning environment.
The tutor will be responsible for delivering education, completing baseline assessments, and working closely with the school, which will provide curriculum resources for additional subjects.
The Ideal Tutor Will:
- Have experience supporting young people with SEMH needs.
- Be patient, empathetic, and able to build rapport gradually.
- Use a flexible, low-pressure, relationship-first approach.
- Be confident delivering one-to-one tuition in the home and later within the community.
- Be comfortable liaising with school staff and attending review meetings when required.
- Be able to assess current learning levels and adapt teaching accordingly.
